Colour Research

30 August—28 September 1996

An exhibition from material in the Morris/Trasov Archive housed at the Belkin Art Gallery. The colour bar projects involved painting, sculpture, performance, film and conceptual art and included the hand manufacture of two thousand painted wooden colour bars which were used as modules in temporary outdoor works of art. The projects were an important attempt to make art from a community of collaboration. It involved the idea of an endless painting without a traditional frame of reference and placed emphasis on process rather than finished monument.
