The Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery in association with the Antwerp Museum of Contemporary Art (MuHKA) will be launching Intertidal: Vancouver Art & Artists at the Belkin Satellite gallery. The 205-page publication is the accompanying catalogue for the exhibition Intertidal, a major survey of contemporary art from Vancouver, Canada. The exhibition was shown at the MuHKA in Antwerp, Belgium, and was the first major survey of works by Vancouver-based artists to be held in Europe and the largest exhibition of Canadian art held abroad since the exhibit Canada Trajectories in Paris, France, 1973. Co-Editors and Co-Curators Scott Watson and Dieter Roelstraete will be in attendance at the launch.
The Intertidal: Vancouver Art & Artists catalogue was designed by Vancouver-based graphic designer Robin Mitchell, and co-edited by Scott Watson, Director/Curator of the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery and Dieter Roelstraete, Curator of the Antwerp Museum of Contemporary Art. The catalogue features essays by Dieter Roelstraete, Reid Shier, Shepherd Steiner, Monika Szewczyk, Michael Turner, Ian Wallace, Scott Watson and William Wood. Intertidal: Vancouver Art & Artists was published by MuHKA and the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery at The University of British Columbia.
The Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery gratefully acknowledges the support of The Audain Foundation, the BC Arts Council, and the Department of Foreign Affairs Canada for their contributions to the Intertidal exhibition and accompanying catalogue. The Belkin Satellite gallery gratefully acknowledges the support of the Canada Council for the Arts.
